The Gallery at the Madison was a concept conceived through a desire to beautify the lobby of the Center and provide a chance for the community, Madison families, and students to experience substantial works of visual arts. Through the process of conceptualization, it was recognized that throughout Arizona there is an abundance of artists without the outlet to show their extraordinary works.
This spurred the desire to create a gallery that could not only benefit local artists with a beautiful space to show their work but by creating opportunities for the students of Madison School District to experience and learn from skilled artists that desire to give back to the community. Opportunities for students to engage and experience the arts will only increase through the donations received from the sale of each work of art sold at The Gallery to the Madison Education Foundation.

Edgar Alejandro Gamez Sosa is an abstract painter from Phoenix, Arizona. Edgar’s love for art came at a very young age. His family are all artists! He remembers always being surrounded by works from Diego, Frida, and Picasso in his childhood home.
He learned a lot of his methods through different forms of art. As a child, he used papier-mâché and balloons to make superhero masks. As he got older he watched another student in art class graffiti his name. Edgar asked him to tag his name, which immediately changed his love for art! He couldn’t stop thinking about letters! During his high school years, he visited the Phoenix Art Museum where he had another life-changing experience realizing at that point he wanted to paint canvas.
Now Edgar is an accomplished street artist who routinely sells out. He also paints during performances with the local band Dead City Revival creating an additional entertainment element for spectators.
Edgar’s love for Phoenix culture is evident in his art. He looks forward to sharing his art with Madison art students and inspiring them to challenge and chase their own dreams.
To help celebrate, Dead City Revival will perform a set starting at 7:00 PM while Edgar performs live painting! The art will be raffled off for free to one of those in attendance.
This will be a celebration to remember!
